The Old Lady of Tule

Our Elders used any trick to bring fear to the hearts of the smallest children in order to keep order in the house.

There was an old lady who lived close to the Virilla River in a shack very deteriorated over time who used a huge hat of “Tule” palm frond to shade her from the sun.

“They are going to take the old tule lady away!’” said the frightened creatures who ran to watch her when they saw her collecting firewood down by the river.

After many years, this became a legend describing her in the following manner;

“A great hat of Tule, bare breasted, feet of a hawk, wings of a bat, face of a witch and hauling firewood”

They say that when one has gravely sinned fate flies up and then falls back down, obliterating them
